About:Gérard Zlotykamien
He began painting in 1955 and met Yves Klein, with whom he did judo. It would be Yves Klein who introduced him to the aerosol bomb. His first street paintings date from 1963, where he spray-draws in the hole of the market his characters named “EPHÉMÈRES” are a reminder of the shadows that were printed on the walls of Hiroshima after the explosion.
He is an executive at Galerie Lafayette by day and a street painter by night. He is very much on the fringes of the art world and paints a lot in the street.
In the 1980s, he received a suspended fine of 600 francs for having drawn on the walls of the National Foundation of Graphic and Plastic Arts.
Along with Daniel Buren and Ernest Pignon-Ernest, he is one of the initiators of Urban Art in France.
