This original so-called "window card" on cardboard, dating from approximately 1935, was created by Roger de Valerio (1886-1951) for the cherry brandy liqueur (Distillerie du Nord, Cambrai -France). and named after the French artist, singer and total artist Maurice Chevalier. Print: Devambez - Paris. The original hanging ribbon is still intact. Good quality. Condition B+ >A: minor bumpers, image completely intact. Fresh colors (see photos). Roger de Valerio (real name Roger Laviron) (Lille, 1886 – Paris, 1951) was a French illustrator, designer and painter best known for his posters and sheet music covers. Roger de Valerio studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1911 to 1914 he worked as artistic director of the newspaper Le Matin. From 1917 to 1924 he worked for the music publishing house Salabert, for which he produced more than 2,000 (!) sheet music covers. In 1926 he was artistic advisor to the Parisian printing house Devambez, for which he produced several beautiful full-color posters Arguably one of the most famous singers of the 1950s, French-born artist Maurice Chevalier certainly knew how to steal the show.
