Biography of the artist:
Jean-Marie Planque, born in Tournai, Belgium, in 1932, pursued Fine Art studies at various academies. After completing his courses, he chose to dedicate his free time to art rather than pursuing a commercial career. Influenced by Belgian Surrealist Marcel Moreau, whose text "The Planque Effect" elucidates his friend's work, Planque's art bears the mark of literary influences such as Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Louis Aragon, and even Léo Ferré. Despite facing illness and career setbacks, he continued his artistic journey until his passing in 1992. Since then, efforts have been made to showcase his work through exhibitions, including those in Tournai (1995) and Brussels (1994).

- 1946: Academy of Tournai, Prof. Emile Salkin.
- 1955-1957: ABC School of Drawing in Paris.
- 1962-1964: Genk Higher Institute, Prof. Jacques Maes.
- 1963-1964: Molenbeek Academy, Teacher Pierre Willy de Muylder.
- 1967-1972: Constantin Meunier Academy in Evere, Prof. Frans Mabille.
- 1968: First prize for painting.
- 1970: First major distinction painting prize.
Individual Exhibitions:
- 1972: Auderghem Cultural Center.
- 1972, 1974, 1976, 1984, 1993: Commission of the European Communities in Brussels.
- 1976: Ferme Rose in Uccle.
- 1994: Pelgrims House in Saint-Gilles.

- 1999: Museum of Fine Arts of Mouscron.

- 1964-1965: Belgian Young Artists Group* in Brussels.
- 1972: "Mondo di Tutti" group at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi.

- 1974: International Exhibition at the Hôtel Communal de Woluwe Saint-Pierre.
- 1977: Painting market in Brussels (Bruegel district).
