Terrestrial Globe by Abel Klinger - AK,
Rare globe published by Abel Klinger and imported for the Swedish market.
Abel Klinger globes are one of the most desired globes among collectors.
The globe shows small signs of wear but is incredibly well preserved, the colors are bright and the cartography is legible and has no yellowing, stains or darkening.
Turned and ebonized wooden base, papier-mâché sphere, hand-coloured map.
The trade label AK indicates the Abel-Klinger firm, a German globes maker well known for its small globes for educational purposes and classroom use. Johann Georg Klinger (1764-1806), a Nuremberg art dealer and engraver, established this important globe making firm in 1790. The company, that made a wide variety of globes in different languages for export, continued to work until shortly after World War I under various names, including Klinger Kunsthandlung; Klinger, Bauer; and after 1850, C. Abel-Klinger Kunsthandlung.
The images were taken professionally and highlight the actual state of conservation of the item. The globe retains its original state and has not been restored.
