This edition was printed the same year as the first authorised edition printed in Italy. Printed there to avoid prosecution by British authorities. In the Uk it was banned as obscene.
Lady Chatterley's lover was a controversial text upon its initial release and had to be heavily censored. Penguin books first published the unexpurgated edition in Britain in 1960 which led to the infamous trial of Penguin under the Obscene Publications act of 1959.
Here is a wonderful piece of literary history.
The book has wear and tear to spine and boards as shown. Otherwise in good condition. Please see pics as they form part of description.
