Julius Seyler (1873-1955) - Shrimp Fishermen on the Beach
Large impressionist painting with strong brush strokes and vivid maritime atmosphere. The painter, who often worked on the North Sea island of Sylt, was interested in the everyday life of fishermen in the Wadden Sea. The scene shown here was old-fashioned at the time of painting, since shrimp fishing with horses was replaced by fishing from trawlers since 1900.
Julius Seyler was a leading representative of "German Impressionism", at his time compared to Max Liebermann and Lovis Corinth. He belonged to the Munich school of painting and specialised in beach scenes, especially shrimp (Crevetten) fishermen.
The painting is in good condition, the frame has a little damage. The painting is hand signed "J. Seyler" lower right. The photos were taken in the bright sunlight, in other conditions the paintings can be darker or colours and contrasts can vary (see the last photo).
The painting will be packaged carefully and sent off quickly with registered mail.
