Royal Copenhagen (Den Kongelige Porcelænsfabrik) was founded in Denmark in 1775. One of the oldest porcelain factories in the world, it has produced handmade quality products for over 200 years. For sale, a fine, substantial set of classic hand-painted pieces of Danish underglazed porcelain with a raised shellfish theme, depicting a crayfish and a lobster, in blue, grey and beige nuances with vibrant colours. Both are in used, essentially mint condition, without cracks, chips or repairs. They are both in "factory first condition". They are fully marked with Royal Copenhagen' blue waves, design nos. 3277 and 3498, and date marks, 1969-1974 and 1975-1979, respectively. Designed by Erik Nielsen (crayfish) and Jørgen Balslov (lobster), they measure 16cm & 19cm in diameter, height up to approx. 4cm., weight 545g and 745g. The dishes are food-safe, ideal for serving shellfish at your next party. A great addition to any mid-century Scandinavian collection, for use in the living room, kitchen, cafe or restaurant.
