The Seljuk Dynasty, a medieval Turkic empire spanning the 11th to 13th centuries, originated in Central Asia and expanded westward, notably securing Anatolia after the pivotal Battle of Manzikert in 1071. Governed by a centralized authority under a sultan, the Seljuks became patrons of Islamic art and culture, fostering advancements in literature, architecture, and the sciences. Renowned for military prowess, they significantly influenced the Middle East and Anatolia's geopolitical landscape.
