Clynelish 1996 20 years old - Artist Collective - 70cl

Appearance: Amber. Smell: Initial flush of mineral notes, with a waxy background typically from Clynelish. After about twenty minutes, the sherried notes appear in full evidence, with a pleasant dark chocolate mixed with red fruits, with particular emphasis on the cherry. There is also a hint of spice, of black pepper and a hint of ginger. In the background, a note of fresh mixed almonds that goes well with marzipan. At the same time, a good medicinal trait balances the sweeter component, seasoned with herbaceous hints (wet meadow, camphor) and, ultimately, a touch of paraffin. Great smell, not banal and changing over time! Palate: Certainly not delicate, but rather powerful and spicy: black pepper and a balsamic touch of eucalyptus mixed with a much more intense herbaceous side than on the nose are the initial, almost dull markers. In the background, citrus fruits appear, almost timidly. Specifically, lemon and orange. The sherried component has almost vanished, giving way to malt notes. Not a bad thing, on the contrary, but profoundly different from smell. Finish: Long, with spices imbued with herbaceous and balsamic notes. A dichotomous malt, with a profound difference between a sense of smell grafted more on persuasive notes and a palate that veers more towards notes that recall the maturation in ex-Bourbon. The end result, however, is absolutely gorgeous the bottle does not have a box as it was stored in a bottle rack #CollectableWineandWhisky
