Senza Prezzo di Riserva - Vintage antique anno 1880, Enamel - Ciondolo - 14 carati Oro giallo, Oro rosa

Type of jewel: Vintage antique Dutch 14K gold enameled pendant a so-called Fausse Montre (Fake Watch) Condition: In a good state, particularly considering the jewel's age. Some parts of the enamel decoration is missing. Country of origin: Netherlands Style: Vintage antique Era: ca. 1880 Material: 14K reddish/yellowish gold (touchstone tested) - It's difficult to pinpoint the exact hue of this gold; it falls somewhere between red and yellow. Technique: Enamelling is an old and widely-adopted technology. The ancient Egyptians applied enamels to pottery and stone objects. Enamel is the colorful result of fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. The powder melts and flows and hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating on metal, glass or ceramic. Extra information: Fausse montre (French), literally, false watch. An imitation watch that was carried on the right-hand side, in addition to the genuine watch that was carried on the left side, or carried on one end of a macaroni. The former did not have a time-keeping movement, but included a small mirror, a pincushion, or vinaigrette. Although many were made inexpensively of gilt metal, some were almost as luxurious as the real watch, with a gold or silver case having an enameled or jeweled back. Men and women carried such pieces from the late 18th century far into the 19th century. Hallmarks: Remains of the Dutch control mark representing an oak leaf and that was in use between 1852 and 1906. Dimensions: 3,57 cm (1,41 inch) x 2,30 cm (0,91 inch) - See picture with a ruler in cm and inches Weight: 3,30 gram (2,12 dwt) Adin reference Nº: 24121-0317 - Accompanied by a professional report of authenticity for your peace of mind. - Shipped insured and registered for your security, though you're most welcome to collect in person. - For shipments outside the EU, import duties and other charges may apply. We advise checking this in advance. - We invite you to browse through our customer feedback to discover the level of satisfaction we consistently provide. - See more of our products, visit: https://auction.catawiki.com/lotsfrom/Adin - Antique and vintage jewellery often undergoes thoughtful refurbishment, remodelling, or repairs to enhance its longevity and wearability. Such pieces frequently bear marks of this tender care. Furthermore, we present our antique and vintage jewellery in its authentic state, refraining from removing scratches or applying rhodium plating to white gold items. Our priority is to preserve the genuine allure and history of each piece. However, as the new owner, you have the option to take it to a local goldsmith for a cosmetic refresh, should you choose.
