A very fine antique 4/4 violin, labeled Alessandro Gagliano alumnus Stradivarius fecit Neapoli anno 1720. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears, some small repaired cracks on top and left upper side, new ebony set up and new strings. The violin has an excellent medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 59 cm and the back 35,8 cm. The total length of the violin is 593 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 208 mm. Full size. The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
