This is a hand-painted flower vase made of Satsuma ware.
It depicts a family of birds.
This vase is approximately 50-100 years old but in good condition.
Although the design is modest among Satsuma vases, the large birds make an impact.
It creates a very nice atmosphere of old Satsuma.
The artist is Eisen from the Nagata Kiln.
Satsuma-yaki 薩摩焼：
Satsuma-yaki is a type of Japanese pottery, primarily produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. It utilizes region-specific techniques and materials, including the use of local clay and distinctive glazing methods. Glazes such as yellow, blue, and red are employed, with yellow-glazed pieces being particularly renowned. The pottery is characterized by its robust and powerful designs. As the Meiji era unfolded, the production of Satsuma ware expanded both domestically and internationally. Especially during the Meiji and Taisho eras, Satsuma ware garnered high acclaim at events like the Paris Exposition and the Japan Art and Crafts Exhibition.
