Orologio a ruota delle navi - Waterbury - Vintage Ottone - 1920-1930

A very rare "Waterbury" Brass Ships Wheel Clock, Jewelled Movement, in antique used condition, with various tarnishing, etc. This timepiece is ticking away nicely and has that amazing ships bell chime, in line with the naval watches. To open the front, you need to push something in the hole to release the catch. There would of been a little button there 100 years ago. I believe the solid oak stand has been specially made and added later. Dimensions; The actual clock is 5 3/4 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep. Please see photos for base dimensions. Ship's Bells Explained: Ship's bells are a system to indicate the hour by means of bells. This system is widely used aboard ships to regulate the sailor's duty-watches. Unlike civil clock bells, the strikes of the bell do not accord to the number of the hour. Instead, there are eight bells, one for each half-hour of a four-hour watch. Bells would be struck every half-hour and in a pattern of pairs for easier counting, with any odd bells at the end of the sequence. To enhance shipping reliability and minimise issues like items going missing, being undelivered, or damaged, all my listings will now be dispatched using a tracked 48 service. Please refer to the pricing details below: Royal Mail increased its prices for small to large parcels as well as Parcelforce larger For more information on current postage prices, you can visit Royal Mail's official website. For international shipments through eBay's Global Shipping Programme, the cost will be estimated calculated based on your country and parcel dimensions. Explore my virtual attic, discover unique curios for your collection or interior design, and thank you for your continued support! Best regards.
