Elegant vase by Oertel Haida. The company was founded in 1869 by Johann Christian Oertel in Nové Bor (Haida) as a family business and named it "Glasfabrikationsgeschäft rücksichtlich Glasraffinerie für Export". The company was engaged in the refining of raw crystal glass and lead crystal. Johann Oertel patented some of the glass decorating procedures. The company exported its products to a number of countries, including the United States of America. After the death of Johann Oertel in 1909, his son Johann Oertel took over the business (his two unmarried sisters became silent partners). Johann Oertel married Julia Meltzer - the daughter of the glass entrepreneur Ludwig Meltzer in Skalice (Langenau). At that time, the company produced not only its own designs, but also worked closely with the Glass School in Nové Bor. Collaboration with artists concentrated in the Wiener Werkstätte (e.g. Felice Rix-Ueno, Reni Schaschl, Mathilde Flögl and Hilda Jesser) was also significant. The excellent level of these designs and their masterful execution led to a significant expansion of sales, especially in North and South America. The company participated in a number of international exhibitions (e.g. 1905 in Liege, 1913 in Ghent, 1922 in Rio de Janier, 1925 in Paris and 1929 in New York. From 1916, the company also regularly participated in the Leipzig Fair. After II. After World War II, the company Johann Oertel was placed under national administration by the Czechoslovak state. Johann Oertel was displaced by the Beneš decrees and then managed to establish a new company in Welzheim, which is still operating successfully. At the same time, under the name Oertel Krystal. The vase is in excellent condition on his age.
