First printing of this classic introduction to physics. Authorized Translation by Winifred M. Deans, M.A. (Cantab.), B.Sc. (Aberd.).
The book has 8 mono plates and also 7 flip book style films, drawn by Dr. Otto Koenigsberger. These are in the margins of the pages and when flipped through show various processes including the motion of the Electron in the Hydrogen atom and the scattering of a-particles (a method entirely new in book production, and showing the actual course of certain phenomena [the images become animated]).
Published by Blackie & Son Limited, London and Glasgow (1935). Publishers’ original blue cloth boards, lettered in gold on upper board and spine.

Condition
External covers are faded, marked and worn at corners, edges, and head, and foot of spine. The book in lovely condition, and clean inside. A prize book label to front past down page. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. Pages are clean and unmarked. The illustrations in very nice condition (Please see pictures).
Max Born
“Max Born (11 December 1882 – 5 January 1970) was a German physicist and mathematician who was instrumental in the development of quantum mechanics. He also made contributions to solid-state physics and optics and supervised the work of a number of notable physicists in the 1920s and 1930s. Born won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Physics for his "fundamental research in quantum mechanics, especially in the statistical interpretation of the wave function”.
