Since its foudation on the 10th september 1756 by Royal Charter of D. José I, King of Portugal, under the auspices of his Prime Minister, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Marquis of Pombal, the importance of this chartered Company was reflected by the valuable services to the community, being the most relevant, the demarcation of the Douro region – the oldest wine appellation in the world. Since 1960, Real Companhia Velha has been run by the Silva Reis family, who have dedicated their efforts to the production of both Port and Douro wines, focusing on the study and development of the Douro terroir. The Company owns 5 quintas in the Douro valley – Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta de Cidrô, Quinta dos Aciprestes, Quinta do Casal da Granja and Quinta do Síbio – with a total vineyard surface of 557 ha. The Series wines represent our passion for innovation and experimentation in the search for new and interesting wines. This effort reflects the backstage work developed by our winemaking and viticulture team, through a selection of more than 30 different indiginous grape varietals (some close to extinction) plnated at our estates in the last 20 years. VINIFICATION The grapes from the best plots are selected at our Quinta de Ervamoira to make Duas Quintas Reserva White. Many tests are done on the berries before deciding the right time to harvest the grapes. These are harvested manually and taken to the winery in small boxes, separated by plot and variety. After cold maceration of the bunches of grapes for a period of 24 hours, the must is obtained by careful and gentle pressing. The clean must ferments in stainless steel tanks (75%) and in French and Austrian oak barrels (25%) of different capacities and then ages for 9 months on fine lees. This wine was bottled in May 2020. TASTING NOTES Pale gold in colour. A distinctive character, remarkable aromatic complexity, very smooth. Fresh aromas such as bergamot and lemon, with mature and tropical aromas of loquat and pineapple. Also reveals delicate aromas of nuts and smoke. The palate helps reveal the personality of Duas Quintas Reserva White with volume, fruit and freshness, perfectly balanced. Its elegance makes this an easy wine to drink. Long, fresh finish which prolongs the flavour of the fruit. -> 2021 RAMOS PINTO, Duas Quintas Reserva White 1 x 0.75L WINE VARIETIES: Rabigato (95%), Arinto (2%) & Folgazão (3%). VINIFICATION The grapes from the best plots are hand-harvested at Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares. Following cold maceration of the grape bunches for a period of 24 hours, the must is obtained by careful, soft pressing. The clean must ferments in stainless steel vats (75%) and in French and Austrian oak barrels (25%) of various capacities. This wine was bottled in May 2022. TASTING NOTES Clear and bright, pale yellow in color. Expressive on the nose, with notes of yellow and citrus fruits. Other aromas of peach, grapefruit zest and ripe lemon also stand out. It is in the mouth that one grasps the distinctive character of Duas Quintas Reserva White, smooth at the start and evolving in crescendo, accompanied by many complex aromas: exotic, like pineapple, softer and fresher like bergamot and boxwood. A wine with unparalleled texture. A long, vivid and fresh finish with further aromas to be enjoyed. -> 2022 RAMOS PINTO, Duas Quintas Reserva White 1 x 0.75L WINE VARIETIES: Rabigato (85%), Gouveio (10%) e Arinto (5%). VINIFICATION The grapes from the best plots are hand-harvested at Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares. Many berry samplings take place before deciding on the right moment to Harvest the grapes. These are harvested by hand and taken to the winery in small boxes, separated according to plot and variety. Following cold maceration of the grape bunches for a period of 24 hours, the must is obtained by careful, soft pressing. The clean must ferments in stainless steel vats (75%) and in French and Austrian oak barrels (25%) of various capacities and then ages for 9 months on fine lees. This wine was bottled in May 2023. TASTING NOTES Pale yellow color with golden reflections. The aromas are fresh with great vivacity. it is a very complex and crystalline wine on the nose, it presents sweet flowers and ripe citrus fruits. Bergamot and quince are some of the aromas that we can highlight from the enormous aromatic complexity of this Duas Quintas Reserva White 2022. The texture is very smooth in the mouth, with volume and ripe fruit. The finish is long, precise and harmonious.
