Minsa You - 果実 : Chiasm - 2005

果実 : Chiasm Minsa You Ricochet/2005/Japanese/30×30cm Born in Kyoto in 1974. a person who asks “What the world is”, “What the human being is”, “What the photograph is”, and “What the photographer is” through the photography. Travelled in and out of Japan during the teen years. After several jobs, I started teaching myself photography. Finding out at an early age that I was not Japanese led me to the pursuit of the answers to the questions “What is the self-identity?”, “What is the self?” and “What is the human being?” After coming back from the profound journey begun in 1999, I had solo exhibitions “The END“ (2001) on the end of my journey and “Ubiquitous chiasm” (2005) featuring the portrait of Hamer, one of the ethnic groups living in Omo Valley in Ethiopia. These works are my record of the “Adventure of the Soul”, which transcends the fields of my being that is the “Self” and the outside world that is the “Others”. And also question the essence of the existences of the universe and the human being. Published a photography book, “KAJITU” in 2005 Currently living in Tokyo and continuing my creative work.
