Medieval Islamic Glazed Pottery Bowl Circa 14th century AD restored - large fragments, small parts missing. This pottery bowl features a white slip with brown and green decor. Medieval Islamic pottery represents a rich and diverse tradition of ceramic production spanning several centuries and encompassing various regions of the Islamic world. Among the most significant centers of medieval Islamic pottery production were the cities of Kashan, Nishapur, Samarra, Raqqa, and Fustat. Islamic potters employed a variety of techniques to create their wares, including wheel-throwing, molding, and glazing. One notable technique was underglaze painting, where intricate designs were painted onto the surface of the pottery before the application of a transparent glaze. This technique allowed for the creation of finely detailed and colorful decorations.
