TO-R S33V, 4-tube mains receiver for 220V and 127V alternating current. With built-in electrodynamic speaker. Input for gramophone and output for additional speakers.
DE LUXE model, made in TO-R's first factory in Copenhagen centre. The radio comes fully serviced and restored.
Worth noting is that the original valves are still in working order. Those are marked 'R R' understating that the almost 100 years old radio looks like new technically!
General background information:
TO-R (also To-R ) Radio A/S was a Danish manufacturer of radios . The company was founded in 1930 by Rasmus Rudholt (1885-?), whose initials form the basis of the name ("two R").
Since 1925, Rudholt had dealt with radio and in 1929 had obtained a monopoly on the import of German radios. The factory was founded at Nørregade 35 in Copenhagen , from 1933 it was located at Howitzvej 11-13 in Frederiksberg , but in 1946-47 TO-R had a large factory built at Slotsherrensvej 111-113 in Vanløse , designed by Svenn Eske Kristensen and awarded by Copenhagen municipality . [1]
In its heyday in the 1950s, the company was among Denmark's leading factories and in the years around 1960, Rasmus Rudholt A/S/ TO-R employed between 600-1,000 employees. In 1952, TO-R took over the Superphone and Telavox factories
