W.J. Belcher (England, 1883-1949) has therefore done a great service by producing, as a result of long and patient study, a superb collection of paintings coverings most of the dominant species. The paintings are sensitively handled and accurate in detail, and nothing comparable has been done by any other artist. Unfortunately the paintings can not be placed on permanent view, so the permission to reproduce a selection in this book, given by the Trustees of the Fiji Museum, will be appreciated not only by visitors to Fiji, but to bird lovers everywhere. Mjöbergs Swedish Scientific Expeditions to Australia (1910-1913) 1918-Almqvist&Wiksell’s, 1st Edition 31x24 cm, 116 pages Condition: the interior and exterior are very clean and bright. The black cloth binding had guilded lettering and is possibly not original. From 1910 to 1913 Swedish entomologist E. Mjöberg went on expedition to North west Australia and he invited ornithologist Rudolf Söderberg to join him. The expedition was made under the wings of the royal Swedish Scientific Academy and the results were published in Band 52 no 17 in 1918. The complete title of this rarely seen book is: Results of Dr. E. Mjöbergs Swedish Scientific Expeditions to Australia 1910-1913, part XVIII: Studies of the Birds in North West Australia
