Acquired by Owner Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, in 1863, this vineyard has always been the birthplace of the best wines of the brand and this Vintage is not exception. Expresses the excellence of the terroir where it was born and reflects the long process of requalification of the 24 hectares of vineyard on this farm, started by the Sogrape viticulture team more than 10 years ago. TEST RESULTS Deep ruby ​​color, almost opaque. Aroma of excellent intensity and complexity, with notes of black fruits, anise, licorice, floral notes of violet, slightly spicy and some cocoa fruit of a year hot and well matured. In the mouth it has an excellent volume, firm and high quality tannins, acidity well integrated, notes of black fruits, cocoa and an extremely long and harmonious finish. WINE YEAR The year 2017 was a particularly hot and dry year, with temperatures rising by about 5 ° C maximum, average and minimum, in relation to the climatological normal, and with precipitation values ​​in the order of 50% below normal. The maturation phase was also conditioned due to the reduction in the amount of available. The beginning of the harvest was one of the earliest in history, on the 7th and 22nd of August for white and red respectively. WINEMAKER: Luis Sottomayor Founded by a family of winemakers from the Douro, in 1751, Ferreira possesses a rich tradition and a prominent role in the history of Porto Wine. VINIFICATION It is made from grapes from vineyards in Quinta do Porto. The grapes are selected in the vineyard and upon arrival at the winery. After crushing with destemming, a gentle maceration, treading in traditional granite presses, with controlled temperature. MATURATION After the harvest, the wines remain in the Douro. They are transported to the cellars, in Vila Nova de Gaia, the following spring, entering the usual aging process, in oak vats. During this period, the wines are subject to racking, analysis and tasting, which allows you to follow their aging. The final blend is obtained after a careful selection of wines, in an insistent search for the best quality. SAVE Keep the bottle in a horizontal position, protected from light and heat. Benefits from complexity growing, with bottle aging. Its longevity can be estimated in several decades, after the bottling. SERVE It is natural for sediment to form in the bottle and should be opened carefully and decanted to better appreciation. It is an amazing wine that benefits from being opened some time before being consumed. Serve between 16ºC-18ºC.
