Maeda Taishou - Born in 1937. After working as a designer at a ceramics manufacturer in Arita Town, he became independent at the age of 36. He is known for his unique cinnabar expressions, and is active mainly at Nitten. He has won many awards, including the Nitten Special Selection twice and the Minister of Education Award at the Japan New Crafts Exhibition, and is highly regarded as a leading expert on cinnabar. He is a Nitten member, director of the Japan New Crafts Federation, and vice president of the Prefectural Ceramics Association. He makes full use of a variety of techniques, including kiln hentenmoku, and his skill is truly impressive. However, these are not the main characters, but are clearly positioned as ``a series of things that lead to cinnabar.'' His works has been exhibited in the British Museum in 2000.
