Jan Mankes Art Project auction for Museum Belvedere
All proceeds from this auction will go to support Museum Belvédère Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen/Oranjewoud, founded by Thom Mercuur in 2004, has since become the main centre for modern and contemporary art from the northern provinces of Holland. In order to continue to fulfill that role in the years to come, the museum has asked more than a hundred artists to create a work inspired by one of the museum’s most important recent acquisitions, the painting ‘Ditch with overhanging heather’, by Dutch artist Jan Mankes (1889-1920) All works will be on show at the museum until October 30, and will then be auctioned. The proceeds will largely go to the museum.
