This is a remarkably realistic Japanese lobster (ebi / ise-ebi) sculpture made of cast metal.

The piece is unusually large, measuring approximately 48.9 cm in length, and has a substantial weight of 2.39 kg, giving it an impressive presence as a decorative object.

The sculpture captures the lobster in a natural crawling posture, with long sweeping antennae, articulated body segments, sharp legs, and a broad fan-shaped tail. The rough texture of the shell and the aged patina create a strong sense of realism and depth.

Although unsigned, the work shows careful craftsmanship and a convincing understanding of marine anatomy. The darkened surface and areas of oxidation are consistent with age and add to its antique character.
