Vintage Italian rattan and woven cane coat stand – 1950s/1960s
An elegant and characterful example of mid-century Italian design, made from natural rattan, bamboo and woven cane. The design reflects the popular Riviera or Tropical style of the 1950s and 1960s.
Its slender silhouette, gracefully curved lines and use of natural materials are typical of Italian creations from this period. The many organic shapes give the coat stand an almost sculptural appearance, making it not only practical but also highly decorative.
The coat stand was crafted with traditional workmanship and features several large and smaller hooks at the top and centre. These provide ample space for hanging coats, hats, scarves and bags. The broad three-legged base offers stability and complements the light, playful design.
