A lovely little Bing & Grøndahl vase with an elegant rounded shape and a spray of white daisies painted against a deep cobalt-blue ground. The flowers have a wonderfully fresh appearance, as though they have just been gathered from a Danish garden, while the rich blue glaze gives the piece real presence despite its modest size.

The decoration was applied using Bing & Grøndahl’s underglaze technique, allowing the soft shading of the petals, leaves and flower centres to sit beneath the glaze. The finish has a gentle satin sheen, which suits the restrained botanical design beautifully.

Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Copenhagen in 1853 and became one of Denmark’s most respected porcelain makers. The factory was especially admired for its underglaze-blue decoration and softly painted studies of flowers, animals and the Danish landscape.
