Picenian Bronze Janus Bull - Very Rare!
Circa 7th century BC
この鋳造ブロンズ製の小像は、前後の向きが反対になる二つの牛の前半身をつなぎ合わせた、ヤヌス牛を描いています。各半には尖った鼻先、短い角、細長い体、屈曲した脚が特徴です。
Picenian peopleは、鉄器時代と古典古代にイタリア半島東部中央部に住んでいた古代イタリック部族で、ピセヌムと呼ばれる地域の出身です。ピセヌムは、現在のイタリアのマルケ州とアブルッツォ州の一部を含み、アドリア海沿岸に位置します。海岸平野、丘陵、山地が入り混じる多様な風景で、農業・牧畜・貿易に適した条件が整っていました。
