この elegant single-stem flower vase is a fine example of Arita-yaki (Arita ware) craftsmanship, bearing the "Seiran" kiln mark on its base. The vase features a beautifully proportioned double-gourd (hyō-gata) silhouette — a form with deep roots in both Japanese and Chinese ceramic traditions, prized for its graceful, flowing curves.
The exterior is finished in a rich, matte iron-grey glaze with a naturally speckled, stone-like texture that gives the surface a quiet, organic depth. Against this understated ground, a hand-painted botanical design unfolds across the entire body: sweeping grass blades rendered in vibrant teal green, interspersed with delicate white bell-shaped flowers and small pink blossoms — evoking an autumn meadow in bloom. The motif wraps continuously around the vessel, presenting a different composition from every angle.
The interior of the neck is glazed in soft celadon green, creating a refined contrast to the matte grey exterior. The base is unglazed, revealing the warm terracotta clay body, and bears the "Seiран" maker's mark in blue on a cream-coloured oval cartouche.
A refined yet understated piece perfectly suited for displaying a single stem of seasonal flowers. An ideal decorative accent for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
