コリマ式大型テラコッタのボール競技選手像、西部メキシコ、紀元前4世紀から紀元後1世紀まで
印象的で稀少な大型のコリマ式テラコッタ像で、ボール競技選手を描く（jugador de pelota）。高さ43 cm。像はコリマ独特の特徴を持つ頭部飾りを備え、中央の竜頭状の装飾を持つヘルメット風の頭部、表情豊かな顔立ち、装飾的な円形の胸飾りを備えた広い胸部、そして一方の腕を挙げ、もう一方の腕には儀式用の杖またはバットを持つ、ダイナミックな姿勢で表現されている。表面は濃い赤褐色の滑り釉を示し、部分的に薄い付着物が見られる、古代の埋葬品に典型的な状態である。
ボール選手像はコリマ美術の中で最も象徴的で重要な表現の一つであり、メソアメリカ式のボールゲーム、儀式、宇宙観と密接に関連している。このクオリティと規模の大型作品は市場でも極めて希少である。
