チャンカイ・ポリクロームの女性像（聖女）ペルー、紀元後12世紀〜15世紀
大形のチャンカイ式テラコッタ像で、立つ女性像を描く。聖女または儀礼的な重要人物を表している可能性が高い。頭部には筒状の体躯、四肢を挙げたポーズ、赤・生成・暗色顔料の alternating バンドで装飾された幅広い頭冠といった、チャンカイ文化の特徴的美術規範が見られる。特に、顔と腕の元のポリクロミー（多色彩）が良好に保存されている点は注目に値し、現存する例ではしばしば失われがちな特徴である。
stylizedな顔立ち、塗装装飾、そして独特の巨大さが、この像をチャンカイの葬送彫刻の中でも特に望ましい部類へと位置づけている。こうした像は、エリートの埋葬品として制作され、後期中期のペルー中部海岸の葬送伝統における象徴的かつ儀礼的機能を果たしていた。元の顔料の保存状態が徹底的に良好であることは、視覚的・歴史的な魅力を大いに高めている。
