クラウディオ・カスティリオーニが、エリック・ビュールが1986年に何を計画していたのか（その逆も然り）を知っていれば、この物語の結末は全く違っていたかもしれない。ビュールがクルーザーのエンジンを軸にスポーツバイクを作ろうとしていた一方で、イタリアの起業家は、スポーツバイクのエンジンを軸にクルーザーを作って米国市場へ進出することを計画していた。後者の実験は市場では失敗に終わったものの、競合を楽に凌駕できる魅力的で完成度の高いバイクを生み出し、欧州の風味をまとって華麗さの演出に一線を画した。イタリア的なつながり
タンクの上の名前にもかかわらず、Ducati IndianaはDucati製ではなく、Cagivaによって作られた。1950年にイタリア・ヴァレーゼでジョヴァンニ・カスティリオーニによって創業されたCagiva（CAstiglioni-GIovanni-VArese）は、元々は電子機器で財を成していたが、1978年にジョヴァンニの二人の息子クラウディオとジャンフランコの指揮の下、オートバイの製造を始め、旧アエルマッキのハーレーダビッドソン工場の残りを買収した。
