驚くべきプレコロンブ海期の護符は、カリブ海のグレーターハイランド諸島のタイノ文化に由来します。遺物はX-XV世紀の間に作られ、祖霊の象徴であるゼミの精巧に彫刻された像を描いており、タイノ信仰において最も重要な神格です。
* タイノの宇宙観におけるゼミは、物質世界と霊的領域とのつながりを象徴しました。像のある物は聖なるものとみなされ、宗教儀式や儀礼的行為の中心的役割を果たしました。
装飾品は半円形で、幾何学的に形成された人身の形状を持つ神の像を描き、表面の美しい自然な桃白色の色合いをしています。動物の歯から彫刻されており、タイノの人々によって神秘的な意味と守護力を持つと考えられ、特に紛争の時に重宝されました。護符の上部には水平の貫通穴が開いており、今日でもペンダントとして身につけられる驚くべき歴史の欠片です。
