強い表現力を持つ figurative の構図。場面の中央には、騎士が白馬にまたがるスタイライズド・ホースマンが立ち、鋭角的な形と対立する平面の遊戯が展開され、イタリアン・キュビスムの教えと20世紀美術の騎馬テーマの大きな伝統を想起させる（マリノ・マリーニ以後の伝統も含む）。パレットは土色系の茶系、金色オーカー、白亜白、深黒を基調とし、右半分には満月が明るい背景として配置されている。画材は豊かで、質感を与える物質的な介入とその後のグレーズで、表面に触れるような深さを生み出している。騎士の主題は、Landi の制作の中でも最も認識され、求められるテーマの一つである。

Bruno Landi は1970年代から活動する現代のイタリア人画家である。彼の作風は、後期キュビスムを母体とする抽象度の低い表現で、20世紀中盤のイタリア絵画への言及と特に Marino Marini の「騎士」シリーズへの言及が特徴。作品の主要テーマは、抽象化された人間像、馬術の世界、音楽の構成、ダンスの場面で、常に土色のパレットと力強い構図を持って表現されている。イタリアと欧州のギャラリーで定期的に展示。

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸

A figurative composition of strong expressive character. At the centre of the scene, a stylised horseman rides a rearing white horse, in a play of angular forms and contrasting planes that recalls the lesson of Italian Cubism and the great tradition of the equestrian theme in twentieth-century art (from Marino Marini onwards). The palette is built on an earthy range of browns, golden ochre, chalk white and deep black, with the full moon serving as a luminous backdrop in the right half of the composition. The pictorial matter is rich, worked with material interventions and successive glazes that give tactile depth to the surface. The horseman subject is one of the most recognisable and sought-after themes in Landi’s production.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁

Bruno Landi is a contemporary Italian painter, active since the 1970s. His stylistic signature is characterised by a synthetic figuration of post-Cubist matrix, with references to Italian painting of the second half of the twentieth century, and in particular to the Horsemen cycle by Marino Marini. The recurring themes of his work are the stylised human figure, the equestrian world, musical compositions and dance scenes, always treated with an earthy palette and a strong compositional structure. He exhibits regularly in Italian and European galleries.
