Description from the seller
65 X 10 X 6,5 cm.
Kora, a knife-axe with a beautiful tulware handle engraved with Nepalese-style floral motifs, curved "goose foot" blade. Decorated towards the back with parallel lines and circles. An eight-petalled lotus flower (Darma wheel) ends with a pair of eyes, one on each side (perhaps the eye of Shiva). It shows signs of use. The Kora was used by the Guka before the British replaced it with the shorter Kukri, considered more functional in 19th-century warfare. Restored by removing oxides and stabilizing with a chelating treatment
