This elegant tea caddy is a fine example of Yamanaka lacquerware (山中塗)
The piece is adorned with delicate sakura (cherry blossom) motifs rendered in both gold and silver maki-e, scattered across a warm amber-yellow lacquer base, framed by bold red grid lines that evoke the look of a traditional bonbori (雪洞 /lantern) pattern.

Japanese Yamanaka lacquerware Natsume tea caddy, model “Bonbori Cherry Blossom”, in excellent condition, made of wood with lacquer, 7 cm high and 6.5 cm diameter, decorated with gold and silver maki-e sakura on amber-yellow lacquer with red bonbori grid lines, dating to circa 1970–1990, and accompanied by its original presentation box.
