福瀬正久は、日本の写真界の孤高の巨人の一人で、1992年の事故の後に昏睡状態に陥り、2012年に逝去しました。彼の作品は死後も国際的な評価を獲得し続け、2018年のフォトブック賞の回顧展部門で新たな注目を集めました。
Hysteric Twelveは、ファッションブランド・Hysteric Glamour が2004年に刊行した写真集シリーズの第12冊目です。本作は、福瀬の1983年シリーズ『Aruku Me（The Walking Eye）』から厳選された多数の画像を収録しており、都市生活の断片—人影、鳥、朽ちかけた風景—を、福瀬独特の緊張感と孤独の詩学によって結び合わせています。
