Description from the seller
Introduction to a Fossil of Psittacosaurus Hind Limb
This fossil consists of the hind limb and foot bones of Psittacosaurus, a small herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous (approximately 125 to 105 million years ago). It is a typical example of this dinosaur group.
The bone structure is robust and stocky, with short, heavy metatarsals and toes, and blunt, rounded claws. These features are perfectly adapted to Psittacosaurus’s quadrupedal walking and herbivorous lifestyle—the sturdy hind limbs supported a solid body, while the blunt claws were better suited for digging up plant roots than for hunting or fast running.
As one of the most representative dinosaur fossils found in China and East Asia, Psittacosaurus serves as a key evolutionary link between early ceratopsians and later large-bodied forms (such as Triceratops). This fossil not only preserves clear bone texture and joint structure but also remains fully embedded in its surrounding rock, vividly showcasing the limb form of this "mini-horned face" dinosaur from over 100 million years ago.
