William Sansom (1912–1976) was a British novelist and short story writer. 『The Equilibriad』は、体の平衡を失い、朝起きると45度の角度だけでしか歩けなくなった男性を描く、風変わりでカフカ的な長編小説である。

本には、Sigmund Freudの孫にあたる英国の画家Lucian Freud（1922-2011）の drawings に基づく全頁カラー/黒白の5枚の図版が添えられており、グリーテッド文字の金箔を施した革張り背表紙と大理石模様の表紙を特徴とする。作品は珍しく、作者自身による署名入りである。
