Description from the seller
COLLECTOR'S ITEM – LONGINES Pocket Watch (Year 1881) with Patented Mechanism and Niello Silver Case ,Unlike the vast majority of Longines pocket watches that have survived on the market (produced in large series between 1910–1930), this specimen represents a special historical rarity from the beginnings of premium Swiss watchmaking. Manufactured in 1881, the watch has a venerable age of almost a century and a half and combines exclusive mechanics with design elements of particular finesse: Supreme Elements of Rarity and Constructive Details: Early Period Mechanism (Caliber 18.49 - Patented): The heart of the watch is an original mechanism finished with frosted gold finish, a luxury technique of the era [Longines]. The legendary winged logo is engraved on the balance bridge accompanied by the PATENT marking, details reserved exclusively for early batches that implemented the factory's cutting-edge technical innovations.
