羅曼式の大理石頭部の卓越した髭を生やした哲学者像。年を重ねた面差、額が高く、皺眉、奥目の眼つき、頬はこけ、髭と口髭はカンマ形の巻き毛のように垂れ、短い巻き髪は頭頂部を高く結ばれ、首の後ろへと渦を巻く。| ローマ帝国時代。1世紀-2世紀AD。

ローマのギリシャ原作のコピー。おそらくエピクロス（紀元前341-270年）、晩年あるいは死後間もなく制作された肖像彫像によって称えられたギリシャの哲学者。エピクロスは、快楽—感情的な安らぎと痛みの不在として定義される—が最善の善であると主張したことで最もよく知られている。彼には上流階級のローマ人の間に多くの信奉者がおり、家庭内に彼の像を展示して霊感の源としていた。この頭部はエピクロ派の哲学に関心を持つ裕福なローマ人の居住地に置かれていた像の一部から来たものである可能性が高い。

According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union
