Petrified Wood は、木が倒れて土壌や砂の層に覆われたために鉱物化した木の一部です。 多くは自然災害が原因です。 Petrified Wood に見られる色は、土壌や砂に含まれる鉱物によって決まり、それぞれの鉱物が独自の色を生み出します。 木材の結晶化の過程は、結節、樹皮、年輪などの特徴をすべて保存することを保証します。 遠い過去に朽ちる過程が、しばしば多色の素晴らしい結晶形成を生み出します。
