Tasting Notes (Sensory Profile)
Although the label features an aggressive monster, more than a quarter-century of aging has tamed this beast. The intense peat smoke has evolved into a mature and elegant complexity, highly praised by spirits experts on Whiskybase and specialist shops like Master of Malt:
Appearance: Vibrant tones of gold, copper, and amber.
Nose: An initial combination of honey, green apple, Madagascar vanilla, and tobacco. The typical medicinal and saline Islay smoke emerges gently, reminiscent of a seaside bonfire mixed with mineral notes.
Palate: Full-bodied, oily, and silky. It reveals rich notes of dark chocolate, espresso coffee, toffee, dried fruits (such as raisins and sultanas), and warming spices like ginger and pepper.
Finish: Very long, lingering, and warming. The smoke shifts into a dry, ashy note, perfectly balanced by a tropical fruity sweetness and a coastal, salty touch.

Islay's Secret: Where does the liquid come from?
As a "mystery" independent bottling, the brand does not disclose which Islay distillery produced the liquid. However, the original creation of the brand involved collaboration with the legendary master blender Richard Paterson (famous for his work with Dalmore and Jura). Due to the pronounced medicinal profile (iodine and sea spray) softened by time, many whisky enthusiasts speculate that this spirit originates from south-coast Islay giants like Laphroaig or Caol Ila.
Since this whisky sits at 50.1% ABV, it benefits greatly from breathing in the glass for a few minutes before sipping. Adding a few drops of mineral water helps unlock the hidden fruity aromas beneath the peat.
