ノマド牧畜民ウーダベ（またはボロロ）ニジェラのオリジナルの頭飾りは、植物繊維製で皮革の挿入とダチョウの羽毛をあしらったもので、日常的には日差しを遮るために使われていた（羽毛なしの状態）。この羽毛をあしらったものは、特に特別な祭り（ゲレウォル－男性美の祭典）で用いられていた。
