銀貨で、表面には太陽を戴く三つの火山が描かれた、グアテマラの象徴的な図像で領土と自由を表すモチーフ。デザインは素朴ながらも明瞭に描かれている。裏面は正面中央に額面 1/4 REAL、周囲を植物の冠で取り囲み、下部には五つ星を配して中央アメリカの旧連邦を示す。作品は保存状態が極めて良く、浮き彫りは鮮明で、地は清潔、わずかに銀色の色調と穏やかな錬成を帯び、元来の輝きを保ち、品質の高い鋳造らしい中央揃いが際立つ。
