北魏時代 女性宮廷侍女 – 北魏時代 – 4世紀から6世紀AD
威厳ある正式な姿勢で立つ女性の宮廷侍女を、精緻に造形した北魏の土製像です。像は長く流れる衣装を身にまとい、体の前で広い袖を束ねる形で、北魏宮廷の優雅な衣装伝統を反映しています。穏やかな表情と緻密に表現された特徴、そして元の多色装飾の痕跡が、この時代の貴族葬儀彫刻に見られる洗練された美学を保持しています。
彫像は元の白釉と赤色顔料の残存がかなりあり、特に顔・唇・衣装の部分に目立ちます。そのような像は貴族の墓所にしばしば置かれ、故人の来世で仕え、同行する役割を果たすとされ、北魏時代に花開いた高度な葬制を示しています。細長いプロポーション、象徴的な衣紋、抑制された表情は北魏の美術慣習の特徴であり、初期中世中国陶芸美術を卓越して表しています。
