Iittala - Timo Sarpaneva - 酒器セット (4) - Glass - ‘KALINKA’

On offer is a set of four blown KALINKA drinking glasses created in 1978 by Finland‘s leading artist and designer Timo Sarpaneva for the renowned glassware company IITTALA. The glasses are superbly crafted pieces made of thick, transparent, textured art glass that imitates the rugged shape and feel of nature. The glasses feature an organic design with a clear stem and angular sides with iced effects and rounded tops.. They display intricately detailed lines of vertical ridges and irregular surfaces and are clearly in the Scandinavian/Nordic aesthetic, with their minimalist, elegant design. Timo Sarpaneva was inspired by the powerful shapes of natural phenomena, such as the bark of trees and melting ice of his Finnish surroundings. The glass set is a testament to Sarpaneva’s great ability to design functional/utilitarian pieces that are exquisitely artistic, organic and nature-inspired. KALINKA glasses — designed for liqueurs and fortified wines — are highly sought after and collected pieces. DIMENSIONS: The glasses have a height of 9 cm, a diameter of 5.5 cm and can hold 100 mL of liquid. CONDITION: The set is in new/unused excellent condition with the IITTALA company stickers still present. The pieces come in their original packaging, though the box shows some signs of wear. TRANSPORT:: The pieces will be well wrapped, packaged and boxed, and shipped with a track and trace code. CREATOR: Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) was a sculptor and designer from Finland. He is mostly known for his glass design but also worked in metal, wood, porcelain and textiles. Saparneva is considered to be one of Finland’s most influential artist of the 20th century. His work is characterized by being organic and nature-inspired, teaming with artistic and aesthetic expression, and at the same time his creations are highly functional and utilitarian. IITTALA is a global Finnish design brand that is renowned for its exceptional glassware and dinnerware collections. Established in 1881, Iittala has a long and storied history of producing exquisitely crafted products that seamlessly blend art and function. Iittala's glass artists and their collections are a testament to Finnish/Scandinavian/Nordic art glass design excellence.
