Pair of Japanese lacquer tea caddies (natsume) in wood with Makie decoration, each about 6.7 cm, two pieces in total, one with sensu folding fans and the other with floral and geometric motifs, in good vintage condition with light signs of ageing.
Description from the seller
Description:
A charming pair of Japanese lacquer tea caddies (natsume), traditionally used in the tea ceremony for holding powdered matcha. Finished in a deep brown-black lacquer, each piece is decorated with elegant maki-e designs in gold and colored pigments. One features stylized folding fans (sensu), a classic symbol of good fortune and celebration, while the other is adorned with floral and geometric motifs inspired by traditional Japanese textile patterns.
Their rounded forms and glossy surfaces reflect the refined aesthetics of the tea ceremony, where even the smallest utensils contribute to the atmosphere of the gathering. Suitable for tea practitioners, collectors of Japanese lacquerware, or as decorative objects displaying the beauty of traditional craftsmanship. Both pieces remain in good vintage condition with light signs of age and use, enhancing their character and authenticity.
