ð§ðµð² ððŒð¿ðž
A figurative composition of strong expressive character. At the centre of the scene, a stylised horseman rides a rearing white horse, in a play of angular forms and contrasting planes that recalls the lesson of Italian Cubism and the great tradition of the equestrian theme in twentieth-century art (from Marino Marini onwards). The palette is built on an earthy range of browns, golden ochre, chalk white and deep black, with the full moon serving as a luminous backdrop in the right half of the composition. The pictorial matter is rich, worked with material interventions and successive glazes that give tactile depth to the surface. The horseman subject is one of the most recognisable and sought-after themes in Landiâs production.
ð§ðµð² ð®ð¿ðð¶ðð
Bruno Landi is a contemporary Italian painter, active since the 1970s. His stylistic signature is characterised by a synthetic figuration of post-Cubist matrix, with references to Italian painting of the second half of the twentieth century, and in particular to the Horsemen cycle by Marino Marini. The recurring themes of his work are the stylised human figure, the equestrian world, musical compositions and dance scenes, always treated with an earthy palette and a strong compositional structure. He exhibits regularly in Italian and European galleries.
