Juan García Ripollés (1932), born in Alzira, Valencia, popularly known as Ripollés, is a Spanish artist recognized for his resilience and innovation. After a difficult childhood, he pursued his artistic ambitions in Paris in 1954, where his career received early recognition, exhibiting at Galerie Drouant David alongside works by artists such as Picasso and Chagall. Upon returning to Spain in the 1960s, Ripollés established his creative base in nature, often painting outdoors at his Mas de Flors house in Castellón.

His work is characterized by a unique blend of naive art influences, vibrant colors, and symbolic expression. His oeuvre spans painting, sculpture, and printmaking, with a strong emphasis on themes of vitality, transformation, and universal emotions. His visual language often combines childlike forms with deeply expressive shapes, creating a distinctive style that celebrates both simplicity and emotional depth. Known for his sculptures, Ripollés also incorporates rich Mediterranean symbolism, drawing inspiration from themes of life, nature, and personal freedom.

Juan Ripollés has exhibited his work internationally, presenting his paintings, sculptures, and prints in numerous prestigious venues. In 2019, he showcased works at the Art Center Museum in Taiwan and participated in the Paris Urban Art Fair. In 2018, he inaugurated a large sculpture in Ede, Netherlands, and exhibited in Taiwan, Paris, and Brussels. Throughout 2017, Ripollés held a retrospective in Taiwan and exhibited in several cities, including Paris, Taipei, and Rotterdam. Among his most notable works of 2016 are a retrospective in Taiwan and exhibitions in Chicago and Switzerland. From 2015 to 2014, Ripollés continued exhibiting his works in Europe and Asia, including the stage design for The Magic Flute in Castellón, Spain. In 2013, his exhibitions spanned China, Belgium, and Spain. Notably, his 2012 retrospective in Valencia, Spain, highlighted his diverse artistic career. In 2011, Ripollés participated in the Venice Biennale and exhibited at the SOFA Art Fair in Chicago. Towards the end of the 2000s, his large sculptures were displayed in cities such as Seville, Madrid, and Brussels. He also exhibited at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2008, further solidifying his international reputation."
