Ancient Roman iron ring with a red jasper intaglio depicting a Gryllos motif of conjoined heads, in excellent condition, dating to the Roman period (c. 2nd–3rd century A.D.), acquired from the United Kingdom at auction and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

D字型の太めのフープセットに、赤いジャスパーのインタグリオが繊細に彫刻され、Gryllosのモチーフとして、若者の頭部と髭を生やした男、サテュロス、馬が結合した姿が描かれています。穂の飾りを埋め込みとして。Gryllosは、人間の頭部と動物を組み合わせた風刺的な怪異像の一種でした。これらの混成像は、悪眼を避ける護符として宝石に刻まれることが多いのです。
